In recognition of ComEd’s successful efforts to achieve best-in-class reliability, PA Consulting, the global innovation and transformation consultancy, yesterday presented the electric company the 2024 ReliabilityOne® award for Outstanding Reliability Performance in the Midwest Metropolitan Service Area. ComEd also received the Climate Action Leader award for advancing the planning and operations to transition into a cleaner future grid.

Progress is underway on Gotion’s new gigafactory under construction in Manteno, which later this year, will start to produce its first Illinois-made energy storage and EV battery packs used in passenger, public and fleet vehicles driving here in Illinois and across the country. Gotion, a global manufacturing giant based in California, will not only play a key role in growing the state’s EV ecosystem but it will create thousands of jobs to grow the local economy.

Investments in the power grid continued to pay reliability dividends for ComEd customers as the electric company delivered record reliability in 2022. Since grid improvements began in 2011, overall reliability has improved more than 80 percent. In that time, ComEd has avoided more than 19 million power outages for customers, saving more than $3.3 billion in outage-related costs. In 2022, 85 percent, or nearly 3.5 million ComEd customers, experienced zero or one interruption in service.

ComEd customers saved a total of more than $6 billion on their energy bills as a result of the company’s energy efficiency program that launched in 2008. The ComEd Energy Efficiency Program is one of the largest programs in the nation offering residents, businesses and the public sector a variety of options that help them cut back on their energy use, which reduces energy bills and helps the environment.
