Metal Fabricator ABC Coating Co. Inc. Breaks Ground for New Manteno, IL, Facility



KANKAKEE, IL – February 25, 2016 – Tulsa, OK-based ABC Coating Co. Inc. announces groundbreaking for its new Chicago region metal fabrication facility in Manteno, IL. The privately held company, which has additional sites in Minnesota and Michigan, is relocating its Peotone, IL, operations to Manteno to facilitate expansion and provide better access to primary supplier Nucor Steel’s Bourbonnais mill.
 
Construction of ABC Coating’s 80,000 square foot production facility – to be located on 14 acres in the 1500 block of Boudreau Road at Manteno’s Diversatech Business Park – is expected to be complete by Q4 2016.
 
“This is a great move that will enable us to meet our growth objectives,” explains ABC Coating Vice President Tom Greenfield, who anticipates increasing employment by as much as 25% by spring 2017. ABC currently employs 25, 32 during peak season, most of whom reside in Manteno and surrounding Kankakee County.
 
“Our team is certainly thrilled at the prospect of working closer to home,” adds Greenfield.
 
Locating in the Kankakee County Enterprise Zone also renders the company eligible for a 5-year property tax abatement, sales tax exemption on building materials, and other incentives.
 
Founded in 1979, ABC Coating Co. Inc. fabricates and coats steel for use in the construction industry, primarily bridge building. Recent projects have included Illinois’ I-355 extension, Chicago’s Trump Tower parking garage and Illinois’ I-57 Exit 315 (Bradley) interchange redevelopment. ABC Coating has rented its Peotone, IL, production facility at 481 S. Governors Highway since 2003.
