Kankakee County Day in Springfield 2015
The Economic Alliance of Kankakee County participated in a broad-based coalition that traveled to Springfield on Tuesday, April 14. Local leaders representing the Alliance, Kankakee County Chamber of Commerce, Kankakee Farm Bureau, Kankakee County Convention & Visitors Bureau, Kankakee County Hispanic Partnership, United Way of Kankakee & Iroquois Counties, the Manteno Chamber of Commerce, along with utility partners Nicor Gas and Aqua Illinois, gathered at the Illinois State Capitol to share top development news with legislators and key agency officials.
In scheduled meetings with the Illinois Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity, Department of Transportation, Department of Natural Resources and Department of Agriculture – as well as State Rep. Kate Cloonen, State Rep. Elgie Sims and State Sen. Toi Hutchinson – the team also outlined opportunities for the state of Illinois to support growth and progress in Kankakee County, including:
- Re-certification of Kankakee County’s two investment-spurring Enterprise Zones
- Kankakee River environmental stabilization and economic enhancement
- Illiana Expressway development
