President Biden Visits Kankakee County Farm

President Joe Biden visited a Kankakee County farm Wednesday to discuss how supporting local farmers helps America do its part in helping with the war in Ukraine.

The Homegrown by Heroes program allows Illinois farmers, ranchers, fishermen and producers who have served or are still serving in any branch of the U.S. military to use a special logo on the agricultural products they sell to the public. This special designation sets these farmers apart in the market, allowing these heroes’ products to be visible to consumers while giving them the chance to tell their story.

Expansion increases access to state-of-the-art telecommunications services, helps accelerate growth of area businesses and attract new ones.

Exelon announced May 4, 2022 that RockCreek, one of the world’s largest diverse-owned global investment firms, has opened applications for the $36 million Exelon-funded Racial Equity Capital Fund to support minority-owned businesses in Exelon’s service areas in Delaware, the District of Columbia, Maryland, Illinois, New Jersey and Pennsylvania.

The American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) was established to help speed up COVID-19 recovery efforts. Kankakee County received $21.3 million in ARPA funds. The Kankakee County Board introduced the Respond, Revitalize, and Reinvest initiative is help distribute this funding within the community. Local businesses and organizations are encouraged to apply.
