2015 Major Projects Yield $485M in Capital Investment
The Economic Alliance of Kankakee County released preliminary figures last week for 2015 capital investment, new square footage and new jobs based on 30 announced expansion and new development projects.
Some highlights:
- In terms of growth in the local industrial, institutional, military, utility and commercial markets, 2015 was another big year. Thirty major project announcements in Kankakee County in 2015 are projected to yield $485 million in capital investment, 588,600 square feet of new space, and 796 new jobs. - In news that is already generating economic ripples, we saw the State of Illinois announce the certification of Kankakee County’s two Enterprise Zone programs and Kankakee County log record number of exports.
- Olivet Nazarene University dramatically expanded its School of Engineering, and Kankakee Community College and Northern Illinois University created new engineering degree pathways
