Manufacturing Takes Center Stage

As we celebrate manufacturing month in October, we celebrate the amazing products made in Kankakee County and across the region. The Economic Alliance works closely with the Illinois Manufacturers’ Association and IMEC Illinois to support our local companies.

The 2022 Made in Illinois poster with partner Nicor Gas features several Kankakee County manufacturers including Johnsonville/Momence Packing, Sherwin Williams, Urban Farmer and Plochman Mustard.

The manufacturing sector in Illinois has literally helped build our nation for more than 200 years and once again answered our nation’s call during the pandemic by creating life-saving vaccines, equipping first responders and health care providers, stocking our stores, and so much more.

More than 652,000 women and men work on factory floors producing $600 billion in annual economic output, the single largest share of the state economy according to our Manufacturing Matters economic study. Every manufacturing job leads to an additional 1.8 jobs and every dollar invested in manufacturing generates $1.89 in additional economic activity.
In Kankakee County manufacturing accounts for $5 billion in total economic output, and $933.3 million in salaries and benefits.
