Aqua Illinois Announces $15 Million Investment in Kankakee Region Water Treatment Plant

Aqua Illinois has announced plans to complete $15 million in improvements to the Joseph Donovan Regional Water Treatment Plant in the City of Kankakee over the next two years. These improvements will increase the reliability of the plant and add redundancy to key treatment processes to ensure adequate supply for economic growth in Kankakee County.

This investment is part of Aqua’s 2016 capital plan of $15 million for the Kankakee Division, $10 million of which is allocated for water distribution system upgrades.

“For more than 100 years, Kankakee families and employers have received high-quality, filtered and softened water from the Kankakee River, one of the cleanest rivers in the Midwest,” said Aqua Illinois President Craig Blanchette. “Our investment in this community asset will ensure that our customers continue to receive the quality and quantity of water they expect from Aqua.”

Aqua serves approximately 73,000 water and wastewater customers in more than 42 Illinois communities.
