Sears Holdings Celebrates New Investment, 25th Year in Manteno, Illinois



Kicking off a year-long celebration of the company’s 25 years in Kankakee County, Illinois, Sears Holdings Corp. – Manteno Distribution Center held a ribbon cutting March 18 for the operation’s new “Pick-to-Voice” technology and related facility investments.
 
The state-of-the-art “repack module” technology replaces the previous “break-pack module” system, explains Denise Jones, General Manager of the Sears Manteno Retail Replenishment Center, enabling the facility to better serve its 365 Sears stores in 16 states. The Manteno RRC was selected among Sears distribution centers nationwide to pilot the pick-to-voice technoloy due to the operation’s stable and dedicated workforce.
 
With the transition to the repack module technology, the operation has added 43 new jobs.
 
Sears Manteno RRC employs 209 associates at its 1 million+ square foot facility. In 2014, total sales shipped from the Manteno site totaled $776 million in 12.2 million total handled cases.
