Kankakee Community College is one of 21 small community colleges across the nation with a gold ranking in the 2025 Guide to Military Friendly Schools, published in conjunction with “G.I. Jobs” magazine. KCC has had 27 veterans enroll during the 2024-25 school year, according to the college’s Office of Financial Aid. Among these veterans, 18 are utilizing Veteran’s Administration Education benefits.

ComEd Future of Energy Scholarship to help over 80 local students pursue college and trades-focused training for energy sector careers this fall.

The Small Business Capital and Infrastructure Grant Program will provide funding to small businesses that have fewer than 25 employees or owned by socially and economically disadvantaged individuals. Grant application is open now through April 7, 2025.

The 2025 Createur Conference will take place at Olivet Nazarene University April 3 and 4, 2025. The annual conference and pitch competition was created to inspire and encourage the young entrepreneurs to begin business ventures; build connections with faith-driven peers and professionals; identify best practices for start-up businesses; and explore untapped potential business opportunities.

New grants available at Kankakee Community College will fund a student’s tuition, fees, books and supplies, and assist with other expenses. It is available to students enrolled in manufacturing and information technology programs, industries where there are not enough local workers.

The U.S. Small Business Administration has declared Kankakee County as a disaster area following storms which occurred July 13-16, 2024. The incidents included severe storms, tornadoes, straight-line winds and flooding. Businesses and residents affected by these storms may be eligible for the Economic Injury Disaster Loans (EIDL).
