One of our key focuses at the Economic Alliance is attracting and retaining businesses – to strengthen our local economy and enhance the quality of life in Kankakee County. We build partnerships with employers, support competitive and transparent incentives, target high-growth industries, and showcase ready-to-develop sites and infrastructure. Through proactive business outreach, site visits, workforce development partnerships, and talent pipeline initiatives, we help businesses grow, reinvest, and succeed. By providing responsive support, we foster long-term relationships that create jobs, encourage investment, and build a stronger future for our community.
Business Investment
Momentum is building in Kankakee County. Over the past five years, we’ve attracted nearly $6 billion in capital investment as employers grow and new businesses move in. Since 2021, the Economic Alliance has marketed local sites for 114 projects across industries like food and beverage, pharmaceuticals, logistics, and renewable energy.
Business Retention
The Alliance regularly conducts business retention visits with businesses throughout the County. To date in 2026, the Alliance has completed 16 retention visits.
